Abnormal Bleeding Care at MOM9

Bleeding that’s heavier than normal, happens between periods, after sex, lasts too long, or shows up after menopause should be evaluated.

Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) can happen due to multiple causes — including fibroids, polyps, hormonal issues, PCOS, infections, medication effects, or (less commonly) cancer-related changes.

How We Evaluate Abnormal Bleeding

Your doctor may recommend:

  • History + physical examination
  • Pregnancy test (when relevant)
  • Blood tests (anemia, hormones, others as advised)
  • Ultrasound / imaging
  • Additional evaluation if needed

For acute heavy bleeding, medical guidance recommends assessing stability first (especially if dizziness, fainting, or weakness is present).

Don’t Ignore These Red Flags

  • Bleeding so heavy you soak pads quickly
  • Dizziness, fainting, severe weakness
  • Bleeding after menopause

FAQ
Q. Is spotting always serious?

Not always — but it’s common enough with treatable causes that it’s better to check than guess.
